Initially I was down on the aesthetic of the AE 2, however after seeing the images of the royal colorway my stance on the silhouette started to soften. After seeing this black and red look, I’ve completely come around to appreciating the silhouette and its potential.
It features a black synthetic cage that comprises the upper. Red “AE” branding can be seen perched atop the black tongue, with additional Edwards branding on the rear pull tab. A Three Stripes logo can be seen on the rear heel, while the text “DESIGNED AND ENGINEERED FOR ANTHONY EDWARDS” reads at the bottom of the heel.
Underneath the aforementioned upper resides LightBoost cushioning encased within a red, Adidas-branded translucent rubber outsole that reads “2001” the year of the budding superstar’s birth.
According to post from which these images originated, these were referred to as an “AE 2/1.5 sample.” If Adidas is smart, they will make sure these move past the sample stage.
